2008 Australian V8 Supercar Championship
Event: BigPond 400, Barbagallo Raceway, Wanneroo, W.A. Round: 4.
Close racing and variable weather entertained another capacity crowd of over 60,000 fans across 3 days in Perth. For Team BOC and BJR the weekend yielded another solid haul of points - 236, moving BJR up to 8th in the Teams Championship. Andrew?s position in the series also progressed 2 positions after grabbing a season-best 10th overall for the Round.
Team BOC Summary:
Pilot of the Team BOC #12 car Andrew Jones enjoyed a solid weekend of results never outside the top fifteen in all 3 fifty lap sprint races.
As it was in NZ, variable weather conditions and showers played a role in the 3 part Qualifying system. Andrew qualified eighteenth just 8/10ths of a second from Pole clearly demonstrating the competitive progress being made by Team BOC.
Race 1. There was a major 4 car incident at Turn 7 on lap 1 which Andrew was able to avoid en-route from 18th to 14th for a smart, incident-free drive.
In race 2 Andrew made a strong start immediately jumping to eleventh by the end of lap 1. Showers fell making the mid-race portion of the event slippery but Andrew together with the rest of the field remained on dry tyres. Andrew raced in or just outside the top ten for the duration finishing eleventh.
For race 3, like the majority of the field, Andrew had already used his best rubber in the earlier races. He made another great start and then had a lonely, sensible race, successfully finishing 14th between Jason Bright and Steven Johnson.

Quote & Summary:
?In summary, Round 4 represented more progress for Team BOC. The clutch update improved each of Andrew?s starts which is critical in this field. The car pace was strong and Andrew played a smart hand all weekend. He was fast and dodged many bullets avoiding the trouble across an action-packed weekend.?

Quote: ?We tried a different clutch this weekend and it really worked. I made 3 good starts which meant I either held or improved on my grid position. I felt the car had more potential but we never quite achieved the balance in the set-up required to take the next step. However, Team BOC finished the round with a top ten which is great. Now we?re in a position to creep further forward. The next step to play a regular role in the lead group is a great challenge.?
