After a journey of nearly 16 hours, Team BOC arrived at Abu Dhabi International airport late Tuesday night.? Wednesday is the all important set up day. Important in so many more ways this year as the series opening race is on a circuit never before used for V8 supercars. The $1.3 billion circuit is as awesome in real life as it is depicted in the motor sport magazines.? The teams set up day includes unpacking the cargo containers loaded at Avalon last Sunday, constructing the pit lane boom and refueling systems, re-fitting components removed for the journey and the important job of setting up Jason Richards? new Commodore.
Jason Richards and engineers Wally Storey and Matt Boniface headed out to walk the new circuit, noting the entries, apexes and exits of all 21 corners in the attempt to get a feel for the flow of the circuit. Not exactly the same as attacking the circuit at full speed but an important part of the pre race preparation all the same. ?What happens on set up day has a huge flow on effect for the rest of the weekend. With the preparations completed, Jason Richards and the Team BOC are ready for a strong performance this weekend.
