Power is the key at Sandown Motor Raceway this weekend and Jason Richards believes improvements in Tasmania could have delivered that for Team BOC.
Sandown?s two long straights mean reaching the car?s top speed quickly is essential. Going into last weekend?s round at Symmons Plains Richards thought that was his Achilles Heel but by Sunday, when he qualified fourth, the team had found the right balance.
Last year Richards finished sixth in Sandown?s second race, despite qualifying 21st, thanks to some clever soft-tyre strategy from the team. This year he believes the car should be up there from the start.
Practice begins this Friday at 10.55am.
?Symmons Plains was pretty much as we expected; the car was super-strong under brakes but our power out of the corners didn?t match some of the people we were racing against.
?Power down isn?t just about what?s under the bonnet though; we made some pretty useful changes in Tassie and Sandown will be a good test of how effective they were.
?Last year we nailed the strategy here with soft tyres and all the safety car periods worked in our favour. We were racing at the front then and our car?s in much better shape now.?
