Broken shocks and damaged tyres interfered with Team BOC's practice sessions at Townsville today but Jason Bright still ended up 11th quickest overall.
Of the people in front of him, all but two ran the quicker soft tyres putting Bright in a good position for tomorrow's qualifying at 11.45, where all cars must run hards.
Season of Endurance co-driver Andrew Jones had two sessions in the car today and, despite a set-up error, showed good pace and finished his second session 17th overall behind 10 regular V8 Supercar drivers.
"According to our calculations, Frosty [Mark Winterbottom] was quickest on hard tyres, Will Davison second and us third of all the guys that ran hards at the end of that last session. All the other guys in front of us ran softs.
"Since we qualify on hards, I think that bodes quite well, although we'll still have to do some long stints on softs in the race. Pace-wise I don't think we're too bad though, even though I had a troubled run today. We broke a shock early on so the whole of my first session was a waste because the corner weights were out. Then in the second session we damaged a tyre so the day didn't go too smoothly
"Jonesy went OK. His pace was very good but there was a mistake in his second session which meant he didn't get a good run but I think his pace was pretty good considering he didn't get a good drive of the car. I was happy to see his pace was pretty close to all the guys who had a good run, let alone the regulars."
