Story of the day

Bright was generally pleased with the handling of the Team BOC VF Commodore. The car showed similar characteristics to yesterday, with balance not perfect, but it was good enough to grab another top 10 qualifying result.

From ninth spot on the grid Bright battled understeer (losing grip at the front) with the car and dropped back to tenth at the start. When a safety car was called on lap 14, the team put fresh rubber and fuel into the Team BOC Commodore in super quick time, sending Bright back out in sixth. Still battling serious understeer, Davison managed to squeeze past but from there Bright used all his racecraft to hold off Percat and bring the car home seventh.

Driver Quotes

Jason Bright

Race One:

“It was a good result. We made a lot of changes overnight and compared to what we had yesterday, it was a ton of understeer.  I felt very weak in places and it was killing the right front tyre all race. I knew I was going to be a bit of a sitting duck. Will (Davison) was always going to get a run at some point. When he got past I thought we’d be in trouble with Percat and the others behind me but I was able to use our strengths in a couple of spots and hold him off enough and then I had enough tyre life to gap him in the last couple of laps. It was a lot tougher than it could have been out there but I’m happy with the result!”
