Race 3 – 15:25-16:00 (12 laps)
Winner: Mark Winterbottom
The rolling starts are causing first lap chaos with cars running two or three wide for the first few corners here at the Albert Park circuit. In these situations, something has got to give. As Jason said yesterday it is all about making a move and making it stick without getting damage to the car. After getting a hit in the rear end on the first lap damage was sustained to the car. The only concerning damage happened to the rear diffuser, the rest of the damage being mainly cosmetic. Jason held on to 11th position until the end of the race.
“We had a bit of damage there in the rear which hurt our aero package pretty badly. We didn’t learn what we wanted to from that one and even though we moved up one spot in the race, it doesn’t really help us going into tomorrow.”
“With these double file restarts you end up in double file through a number of corners before everyone spaces out, we ended up down in turn 4 and had a car come up on my inside which pushed me into Fabian. The cars had a good rub against each other there and we were lucky to get away with it. Only rear end damage so it could have been worse.”
