Race 4 – 12:10-12:45 (12 laps)
Winner: Mark Winterbottom
The fourth and final race of the weekend came to a quick and abrupt end when the Team BOC Commodore didn’t even get to finish one lap. Percat got tapped which sent him into the rear of Bright at the rolling start and within a few corners Lowndes had spun leaving Bright with nowhere to go but into the side of his car. Footage shows Jason tried to avoid it but just couldn’t. The front left hand side of Bright’s car made contact with Lowndes, both cars forced to return to the pits.
After assessing the damage it was clear that the front splitter rio and chassis rail extension were broken. Race tape was not enough to hold the front of the car together to run the rest of the race. With it being another short 12 lap race it was deemed too little time to fix to re-join the field. Bright finished 15th overall for the weekend.
“It felt like a reasonable tap however the bumper took it all. It didn’t do extensive damage but enough to the aero so there was no way we were going to move forward. It was a shame as we were trying to progress and learn some things.”
“We ended up with damage from the rolling start almost every time. It makes it hard to learn when you’ve got damage, so it is a pretty disappointing way to end our weekend.”
