RACE TWO RECAP

It was a weekend to forget at the Gold Coast 600, the early signs was that the car had good pace and could have earned Team BOC their best result here at the street circuit. After qualifying in the top half of the field in both days the car had the potential to move forward, however the kerbs at this track which make it so entertaining for the spectators to watch, brought the chaos. Jason hit a kerb early in his stint forcing the car to pit for a new front splitter. After meeting the kerb again the team had to tape the existing splitter on as best as possible; the mount was damaged just enough that a new one wouldn’t be easy to fit. After spending the extra time in the pits the team eventually finished in 23rd place.

Brad Jones “It was a really difficult weekend for Team BOC. This circuit is a bit of a car-breaker and we haven’t had a great run here in the past. It was disappointing today, the car was really fast yesterday and looked to be that way again today. Damaging one splitter is something you could have recovered from but having to do multiple repairs it drops you down a number of laps very quickly, forcing you out of the race which is what happened today.”

THE DRIVERS WORD

Jason Bright

“Today was frustrating. I don’t feel like I was using the kerbs any more than we did during the other sessions this weekend but clearly I did on a couple of occasions today.”

“I think because I was caught behind another car maybe I just pushed a little too much and going that little bit harder has resulted in braking a couple of splitters. I was still surprised as I didn’t feel like I was hitting the kerbs any different to yesterday.”
