Saturday 19th March
15:20-15:50 - Race Three
Position: DNF / Winner: Jamie Whincup
He described yesterday as a ‘hard slog’ and for Team BOC driver Jason Bright it was again a short and sharp battle story today. Whilst there are no championship points on the line this weekend, no-one is holding back and drivers are fighting for every position. Coming into lap two cars were still getting settled after the rolling starts, and when Jason was pushed wide, his return to the track resulted in disaster. He was hit in the rear, spinning the Team BOC Commodore around and getting another hit in the front during the spin. The damaged resulted in a broken radiator and front bars, so he was having major trouble turning the car left. He made the slow return to the pits and had to call it a day. The crew will work their usual magic and have the car ready for the final race at Albert Park tomorrow.
JASON “I got pushed out wide by Wood then when I returned to the track Moffat has hit me in the rear and it’s sent me around. I don’t know who clipped me as I was spinning around but it caused a lot of damage to the front. I got on the radio telling the guys I couldn’t turn left so I had to limp the car back to the pits. Moffat came down and apologised for making contact, he didn’t really have anywhere to go. It’s really disappointing to have another DNF.”
